How Do You Make The Best Garlic Bread?
A good garlic bread has the following:
- A crust Italian bread. Part of what makes garlic bread amazing is a nice chewy bread. You want something that is tender enough to bite into, but has a nice crustiness so you can have some texture when you chew.
- Flavored Butter. The best parts of garlic bread include a nice distribution of butter to bread. You don’t want too much butter, but you need enough to keep it decadent and fantastic.
- Cheese. Some may disagree with me over whether or not garlic bread should have cheese. But in my opinion cheese elevates it to a whole new level. It offers more creaminess, more flavor. and frankly, more fun! I use mozzarella and parmesan in this garlic bread recipe.
There are a lot of garlic bread recipes out there. All have slightly different variations to a seemingly simple concept, bread partnered with garlic and butter.
However, there are a couple of things that make a garlic bread better than others.
What Makes This Garlic Bread Recipe The Best:
Good Choice and Proportion of Spices
You want a garlic bread recipe that offers a well-seasoned bread, but is careful not to have other seasonings mask or take away from the delicious garlic flavor that lends to the name of the bread.
The use of parsley and paprika in this cheesy garlic bread recipe adds to the wealth of flavor in this garlic bread recipe, while not taking away from the spice that should truly be the one showcased, the garlic.
The Use of Both Minced and Powdered Garlic in This Recipe
Fresh minced garlic and garlic powder offer a greater depth of garlic flavor. Both elements work together to offer a richer garlic component to this garlic bread, opposed to just using one or the other.
Use of the Broiler at the End, Results in a Perfectly Golden Brown Cheese
Yes cheese will melt in the oven without using a broiler.
However, finishing off the cooking by broiling the cheese and bread at the end, like I do in this garlic bread recipe, adds the perfect golden brown cook on the cheese and provides a little added crunch to the exterior of the Italian bread.
Finely Chopped Garlic, No Big Garlic Chunks
It is no secret that garlic is used in garlic bread. However, no one wants to bite down on a huge, chunky piece of garlic while eating the bread.
Garlic flavor should be tasted, but the actual garlic should be so fine that is almost hidden.
Perfect Temperature and Cooking Time
You want to make sure you cook the garlic bread long enough so the flavors meld together, the butter melts, and the outer bread becomes slightly crunchy. However, you want to make sure that the bread does not burn.
This garlic bread recipe has carefully taken into consideration time and temperature to help get the best cook on the bread.
The Use of Two Types of Cheese
Many cheesy garlic breads have mozzarella cheese as the topper, which makes sense. Mozzarella is a mild flavor cheese that melts into a mouth watering, gooey treasure.
So, of course this cheesy garlic bread recipe uses mozzarella cheese. How could it not?
In addition to mozzarella most cheesy garlic recipes use some parmesan cheese. Parmesan cheese adds a little pizazz to the flavor, providing an extra pop of taste in your mouth.
And this cheesy garlic bread recipe is no different, there is of course parmesan cheese in this recipe as well.
